What is NOVA BIM?
NOVA BIM offers all the core functionalities of a classic BIM program that are required to facilitate successful construction cost management, such as cost planning, quantity determination, specifications, a bidding platform, price comparison, ordering, addenda, bills of quantities, target-performance comparison, invoicing and cost analysis. All components can additionally be linked to IFC data for 3D model-based management and modification. The standardised integration of addresses, documents, appointments and tasks makes project management simple and convenient from start to finish.
NOVA BIM is interfaced with IFC, Excel, PDF, GAEB, Datanorm, Önorm and offers platform functions for web-based and modern collaboration, allowing you to share your data quickly and safely with your project partners.
NOVA BIM is an entirely web-based application.
This offers you the advantage of being able to access NOVA BIM from wherever you are, without download or installation, and without having to worry about data backup or software updates. All you need is a device with internet access. You can use NOVA BIM on your tablet, smartphone or desktop PC or Mac. It’s up to you.

And with NOVA BIM, you will always be flexible: You can choose from a range of packages comprising different combinations of the modules for tendering, contract award, invoicing, BIM and controlling, and you can modify your package at any time by adding or unsubscribing from the modules. You are also not bound by a minimum term of subscription. What’s more, you have free access to our customer support and hotline services for the entire duration of your subscription.

What can NOVA BIM do?
Projects & Controlling
The Projects & Controlling module allows you to organise projects, build up an address book and import your contacts, use search and filter functions to quickly find what you are looking for, allocate tags to categorise your data, and manage and share whatever documents you like. If you are collaborating with others in your work, you can organise users and user groups, and manage access permissions and privileges.
You can prepare and version cost estimates for your project, based, for example, on a DIN 276, OMNICLASS, UNIFORMAT or BIM 3D building model (IFC) cost structure. Or you can work with any other cost structure (cost centres, service types, etc.). NOVA can also use available data from comparable projects as a basis for cost calculations for specific cost elements, building components or service types. Now you can apply your chosen cost structure to generate your entire trade-oriented bill of quantities automatically, or to assign the costs to their respective cost categories. These cost assignments are then used as a basis for the overall cost analysis of your project. In all phases of the cost calculation, you can instantly view and analyse the values of the respective cost categories. You can define the fineness of the breakdown in your cost structure by simply expanding or collapsing different levels of the cost structure. All results can be graphically visualised within seconds and printed in PDF form or exported in an Excel file. The BIM add-on allows you to easily visualise the costs assigned to selected building component groups and individual building elements.
Preparing bills of quantities
The bill of quantities creation module enables you to prepare bills of quantities for billing and tendering specifications online. You can also import your existing Excel files as well as standardized GAEB, Önorm files, and use them as templates for your bills of quantities. NOVA’s highly efficient editor for formatting, tables and graphics will assist you with free text formulation. You can also use legally compliant model text modules for your invitation to tender and calculation tools provided by manufacturers or public sector authorities.
Using the integrated calculation functions, you can quickly and easily determine the respective quantities for work items listed on your bills of quantities (BoQs) – and with the BIM add-on, the BoQ work items can additionally be linked to the corresponding building elements. The linked IFC models are displayed in the 3D viewer, allowing for a fast and convenient transfer and update of quantities. For complex mathematical calculations, you can access the collection of REB 23.003-compliant forms and establish relationships between computational approaches. When compiling the BoQ, you are already able to allocate quantities to specific cost categories or cost centres, providing you with an early overview of the cost distribution.
Routine BoQ checks
Integrated, modifiable routine checks of your bills of quantities ensure that your data are formally correct and ideally structured for files, as well as for printed lists. As an option, you can also check the specifications for compliance with the guidelines of the standard catalogue of services for road and bridge construction.
You can add your own company logo to your printed materials and create lean PDF files. NOVA’s extensive options offer you a variety of different design configurations. You can save your bill of quantities in the adaptable tabular format, complete with all your descriptions and details, as an Excel file. NOVA facilitates data exchange with project partners such as planners or payors according to the regulations of the GAEB 90/2000/XML or the Önorm A 2063 in Austria.

Tendering and contract award
Using the tendering module, calling for tenders is easier than ever. Choose the type of award, set the submission deadline and invite participants from your address book to submit their bids – or issue an open invitation to tender. You can share any files or documents with your bidders and have the participants confirm their receipt. The real trick, however, lies in the tendering process in which your bidders participate: the bidders receive your invitation to tender in the form of an e-mail containing a direct link to your bill of quantities, and can submit their bids on the tendering platform itself, password-protected and without any additional software. Just to be on the safe side, there is a bid checking tool to support them, and they can upload documents and make their own suggestions. And if anything needs clarification, you can communicate with the bidders in auditable form in the question-and-answer dialogue. Whether you send your reply only to the bidder who raised the query, or whether you make it available to all of your bidders, is up to you. Using the BIM add-on, you, as the tenderer, can decide whether the bidder is also granted access to an IFC 3D project model in the viewer in order to assess the characteristics and the correlation of specific building elements with the work items specified, and to localise and evaluate them before submitting an offer.
Convert your specifications into an order
The awards module enables you to analyse and compare the submitted bids in both tabular and graphic form, to import additional bids from Excel files or via a GAEB or ÖNORM interface, and to manually record, copy, assess and evaluate the bids in any order you choose. What’s more, if you activate your own cost estimate, NOVA BIM will use it as a basis for ideal, mean and median price calculations that you can compare with the offers of your bidders. Variations for contingent or alternative items can be selected and evaluated by option. All details submitted by the bidders, such as products or manufacturers, are clearly displayed in the price comparison. Unit prices and price reductions are evaluable at all levels. Having compared the bids, you can create a commissioning bill of quantities, or you can award the tender on a lot-by-lot basis. Again, you can print out the lists with your own company logo and create PDF documents or Excel files for further analysis. Data exchange with your project partners according to the regulations of the GAEB or XML is unrestricted.
Invoicing
The invoicing module provides you with three powerful online tools for the execution of your construction work. There is a contract management tool, which gives you an overview of the work items agreed. Alongside the main order contracted as a result of the tendering process or by direct data import of an Excel spreadsheet (GAEB86), you can also make amendments as necessary. Each amendment or addendum – whether added manually or imported from an external interface – can be applied to any number of specifications, and will be allocated its own spec number and a status, e.g. “recognised” or “released”. You can make an overall or differentiated evaluation of both the main order and the addenda and issue them as a PDF document or Excel file.
Quantity Take Off – direct online entry by the supplier
You can assess the invoiceable goods or services rendered – the quantity take-offs (QTOs) – using a free quantity calculation or formula (REB23.003), and you have access to a standardised interface (DA11/X31) to import and export QTO data. You also have the convenient option of inviting the contractor to submit a record of services rendered digitally on the NOVA BIM platform. The BIM add-on can additionally be used to evaluate the QTO directly on the 3D model (either internally, or externally, by the contractor). You can then check and approve (or reject) the QTO, and use it as basis for up-to-the-minute cost estimations in your ongoing variance analysis.
And of course, you will need it to calculate invoice amounts and/or credit notes. For your invoice management, you can choose between different invoice types: prepayment, down payment, part-payment and final invoice. Special contract arrangements such as securities agreements, bulk prices, cash/trade discounts, and freely-defined deductions are automatically taken into account when the invoice is created. Special approval mechanisms, consolidated or cost-sharing-based invoice compilation, and the choice of cumulative or purely incremental billing, support you in the audit and payment approval process.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) add-on
What can the BIM Add-On do?
The BIM add-on is a valuable project management tool which enables you to visualise data in a construction model. Based on the Open Bim & IFC open standards, 3D models can be exported from all common CAD systems and further processed in NOVA BIM. Initially, a project-oriented “room and object book” is generated in the BIM module and linked bi-directionally with the data of the 3D model. So the entire process and business logics, from cost planning, to the BIM, to cost analysis, are spatially mapped in the 3D viewer, allowing you to conveniently select and navigate at will.

Since the BIM viewer is deeply integrated within all of the NOVA BIM modules, including quantity take-off and addenda management in the invoicing process, and the project cost analysis, the 3D model is available in all NOVA BIM modules.
